Children’s fashion festival – is a unique project, dynamic event that gives an opportunity not only to the famous, but young designers as well to create and fulfil their ideas, and to participants and guests of this competition – to feel the unique atmosphere of beauty, style and festival.
The “BOLAJONLAR-SHIRINTOYLAR” children’s fashion festival that has already become traditional, is held annually, starting from 2000.
A very important stimulus for the design’s development and Festival’s organization is the statel policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The coming year 2016 was announced as the”Year of healthy mother and child”. As the President Islam Karimov has pointed «Attention and care for the health of the family should be viewed through the prism of healthy maternity and childhood. Raising a healthy and harmoniously developed generation is a priority direction of state policy in Uzbekistan».
The Festival will assist the further development of the fashion industry in Uzbekistan, production of the stylish and comfortable clothing for kids and future mothers, young and professional designer’s creative potential development, building a creative environment and cooperation zone in the fashion sphere and possibilities to opinion and personal experience exchange between the participants. Events like this can help to form the aesthetic taste of youth to receive the knowledge of costume’s culture and traditions.
Participants will receive a possibility to demonstrate their talent and professionalism to the experts of the industry and big manufactories’ representatives. Festival’s socially oriented direction appears in the assistance to the development and implementation of the program of harmoniously and thoroughly developed generation, propaganda and formation of adequate taste and style in the creation and selection of children’s wear area, to stimulate the awareness of the demands and requirements, that are set for the garments.
Within the Festival's program the #beyoung (for baby) competition will be conducted.
The #beyoung (for baby) competition aim: the competition aims to unite the intellectual, scientific and practical experience of the designers of children’s wear and expectant mothers’ clothing considering the physiological characteristics. In addition, the competition helps to form the image of modern eco-friendly directed design, to promote local fabrics, and to create the possibility of opinion and personal experience exchange between the participants of festival.
About the Concept of the Festival: The concept of the Festival is focused on the comprehensive approach to the questions of the children’s and future mother’s wear designing considering all standards and requirements set for this clothes assortment and implementation of the formulated tasks on high professional level. Various collections of kid’s clothing of different styles and assortment and models for expectant mothers will be demonstrated during Festival. All the collections must be developed and produced considering the latest trends of world fashion for spring-summer 2016 season and national mentality.
There are both professional and young designers, enterprises, student-participant of different fashion schools among the collections’ authors.
The program of “Bolajolanlar-Shirintoylar” children’s fashion Festival includes:
- #beyoung (for baby) – young designers defile;
- Gala-show.
Within the frame of these fashion shows, all the participating designers will be able to demonstrate their collections that follows on one of the below-mentioned nominations of the competition to the audience.
Evaluation criteria
All the collections will be evaluated based on 3 criteria:
- Idea solution;
- Garment’s fitting on the figure;
- Garment’s processing technique.
Each criteria has a 10-point scale of evaluation.
Competition nominations:
1. Children’s clothing, contains the following categories:
- casual/everyday wear;
- national style;
- bold decision;
- school uniform;
- sport style;
- elegant clothes;
2. Expectant mothers’ clothing:
- casual/everyday wear;
- informal/leisure type wear;
- elegant clothes;
3. Family look.
Terms of participation
- The professional and young designers, college students and enterprises can take part in the competition.
- Each participant has a right to choose any nomination of competition.
- All the garments of the presenting collections must be produced on a high professional level.
- One of the specific requirements is that the collection must be created by the author.
- The number of pieces in collection can vary from 9 to 11.
Contest stages
The selection for Festival will be conducted in three stages:
Stage I (sketch -phase):
Held on January 8-9, 2016. This stage includes selection of clothing collection sketches. Each contender has to present the sketches of the supposed collection to the Organizing committee of the Festival. On this stage, committee accepts both work sketches and colored ones with fabric samples attached, that will be used for the collection (or one ready garment or layout-sample, if such was made). During the selection, the author has to substantiate that the chosen style meets the clothing requirements set for supposed age/gender group.
II stage:
Held on February 5-6, 2016. On this stage, participants have to demonstrate the final concept of the collection to the Organizing committee of the Festival, with sketches of all the models in collection, with several ready-made garments.
If the contestant pass through the selection on this stage, he/she needs to fill the application form to participate in the #beyoung (for baby) competition or in Gala-show.
III stage (semifinal):
Held on March 11-12, 2016. Participants have to demonstrate the ready-made garments collection with all the necessary accessories and additions.
Terminal stage (final) of the #beyoung (for baby) competition and Gala-show. The final date and time of Festival will be announced later. On this stage the participants need to provide the collection’s photoset, with each garment separately on model (size of the photos – 10x15), general description of the collection and designer’s preference regarding the music background on the catwalk.
